AIRFOOTWORKS BACKGROUND

AIRFOOTWORKS is a dance group from Japan, founded by Takashi Jonishi, who is famous for his work with World Order. Mentored by Kenichi Ebina, the group’s unique dance style creates the illusion that the performers are walking in mid-air, leaving viewers with a sense of weightlessness. In 2023, AIRFOOTWORKS made it to the Final of the very first season of Japan’s Got Talent.

This four-person group from Japan, mentored by AGT Season 8 winner Kenichi Ebina, amazed the judges with their gravity-defying moves using a cube-shaped frame, showcasing a unique blend of dance, acrobatics, and Lite Feet-style.

In Episode 1908, AIRFOOTWORKS performed an aerial dance routine using a metal bar, with one member also doing a brief breakdance to Justin Bieber’s “Where Are U Now.” All four judges voted “Yes,” sending the group to the next round.

In Episode 1911, AIRFOOTWORKS delivered an impressive performance with an aerial dance routine using a metal bar and a brief breakdance to Ed Sheeran’s “Celestial.”

The judges—Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell—were so impressed that they gave the group standing ovations.

Even though Simon wanted to use the Golden Buzzer himself, Howie beat him to it, sending AIRFOOTWORKS straight to the Final.

Airfootworks trivia

AIRFOOTWORKS is the second act for which Simon Cowell attempted to use the Golden Buzzer, following Boogie Storm in The Champions (Season 2). However, unlike with Boogie Storm, Simon’s attempt didn’t count as his Golden Buzzer because Howie Mandel beat him to it.
