Gautam Gambhir has now officially taken the reins of team India after showcasing his excellent mentorship in the IPL 2024 that led to team KKR’s third title win.

Gautam Gambhir’s annual salary is being discussed by BCCI which is the reason there was a delay confirming Gambhir as head coach of the team Blues. With T20 World Cup 2024 winning coach Rahul Dravid earning INR 12 crore annually it is expected that GG will receive a higher salary.

Gauti’s first assignment as a head coach of team India will be a limited-over series against Sri Lanka which is set to start at the end of July.

Gambhir’s official tenure as India’s head coach begins from July 2024 and will be serving until Dec 2027.

Gautam, as the head coach of team India will be overseeing the performance and development of the Indian cricket team in all formats.

Gambhir willingly left politics as a BJP MP before the Lok Sabha elections to focus on mentoring IPL franchise KKR.

This is going to be the first time Gautam Gambhir will be formally coaching the Indian cricket team. Prior to this he only served as a mentor.

Apart from having full control over all cricket operations, some reports said that Gambhir wanted freedom to choose his own support staff.
